Cookies & browser storage

What this website stores on your device, why it is used and how you control it.

Motenza Holding LLC

At a glance

  • Public reading does not need a login cookie.
  • A session preference prevents repeated offers.
  • Notifications need your separate permission.

Our storage approach

Cookies send small values with website requests. Session storage stays within a browser page session. A service worker can support requested notifications. These technologies have different controls; clearing one does not necessarily remove the others.

The public journal does not install advertising cookies or third-party audience analytics. There is no advertising switch for tracking that is not installed. Hosting and external images still involve ordinary network requests described in the Privacy policy.

Protected editor cookie

The motenza_editor cookie identifies an authorized private editor session. It expires after eight hours, is HTTP-only and uses strict same-site restrictions. On HTTPS it is marked Secure. It supports authentication rather than advertising or public reader profiling.

Public readers do not need this cookie. Clearing it signs an editor out. The checklist preference control does not remove the authentication cookie.

Checklist offer preference

The motenza-checklist-seen session-storage entry records that the browser session has shown the owner’s field guide offer. It holds a simple preference, not an email address, financial record or borrower application.

It ends with the session or when cleared. Resetting it may allow the offer again on a later page. Privacy choices can reset only this preference without clearing other browser data.

Optional browser updates

Where offered, browser updates require an explicit action and permission. The /sw.js service worker handles notifications; it does not implement an offline cache of reading history.

Your browser keeps a permission and push registration. The journal stores delivery details for a requested subscription. Privacy choices can unsubscribe this device, while browser site settings control future permission. Clearing cookies alone may not remove the registration or permission.

Browser and device controls

Use Privacy choices to reset the checklist preference and manage an existing notification subscription. You can also clear motenza.com website data in browser settings. This affects the browser, not exported files or correspondence already submitted.

Safari, Chrome, Edge and Firefox provide website-data and notification settings. Labels can vary by device. Confirm you are changing motenza.com settings and consider the effect on an editor session before clearing authentication data.

Changes to storage use

This inventory describes the current implementation, effective October 10, 2026. A new optional tracking or delivery feature requires appropriate notice and controls. The Privacy policy identifies providers, purposes and request routes.
