Satya Nadella is Microsoft’s chairman and chief executive officer. Microsoft’s biography states that he joined the company in 1992 and became CEO in 2014 after leading its Cloud and Enterprise group. That background offers a useful starting point for understanding a business that combines cloud infrastructure with workplace software. A smaller US organization meets that model through account administration, collaboration tools and recurring subscriptions. Comparing a subscription by its advertised seat price can miss the expense of administering it. Build a list of the functions the organization actually needs: shared calendars, device management, records retention, support and account recovery. Some may be included in a plan while others require an additional license or specialist. Compare equivalent capabilities across providers rather than packages with different limits. Decide who owns the tenant and billing relationship. An external consultant can manage the service, but the company should still retain controlled access to its administrative accounts and recovery information.

Imagine a business where departing employees keep access because no one owns the offboarding checklist. Adding another application will not resolve that process gap. Review account creation, role changes, shared mailboxes and departure handling before expanding the software budget. During a pilot, ask a real employee to complete ordinary tasks and ask an administrator to restore a deleted file. Both outcomes matter. A renewal review should examine active users, stored information, support incidents and the effort required to export essential records. Those observations make a more durable buying case than a feature comparison alone.
