Rates methodology & sources

Clear data for understanding U.S. financing benchmarks. Official sources, visible dates and reproducible calculations.

Sources & refresh schedule

We retrieve six official FRED series on a daily scheduled check at 12:15 UTC. The observation date may precede retrieval: sources follow different release schedules, weekends and holidays. A check does not guarantee a new observation.

Calculations & checks

Change subtracts the preceding available observation from the latest: 5.00% minus 4.75% is 0.25 percentage points. This does not imply consecutive calendar dates. We do not fill missing dates.

We validate the requested series, ordered dates, numeric values and at least three observations. Charts use actual dates and a fitted vertical scale, not necessarily a zero baseline. The table and CSV show available observations in the retrieved window, normally about 180 days.

If a download fails, we retain the prior data. We flag data for review when retrieval is over 36 hours old, the latest observation is over seven days old or the source returns an error. Source revisions can change historical observations.

SBA 7(a): prime plus the maximum spread for the corresponding loan-size band, with a visible policy-check date.

Cite, embed & reuse

Each series provides a citation, CSV and embeddable chart linking to the source and Motenza Business Times. Embedded charts retain dates and notices. Downloads and charts do not grant additional rights over third-party data.
