Andy Jassy’s Amazon role
Amazon’s investor materials identify Andy Jassy as president and chief executive officer. His earlier leadership of Amazon Web Services connects his career to cloud infrastructure, while the wider company also operates retail and marketplace businesses. Those are different relationships for a US small business: it may be a cloud customer, a marketplace seller or both. This profile separates those roles because the costs and dependencies differ. Public biographies establish the leadership facts; the operating worksheet is Motenza’s analysis and does not represent advice from Jassy or an endorsement of Amazon services.
Cloud capacity is an operating commitment
AWS pricing depends on the selected services and how they are used. A team should model ordinary demand, a busy period and a quiet period separately. Include storage, data transfer, monitoring, support and unused resources instead of estimating only the main compute instance. Assign budget alerts to a person who can act, not an unattended mailbox. Before accepting a longer commitment, check whether the workload is stable enough to use the purchased capacity. A discount on infrastructure that remains idle does not reduce the cost of completing useful work.
Separate channel revenue from channel profit
For a seller, the important calculation is the contribution remaining after the complete cost of an order. List product cost, fulfillment, advertising, returns and applicable platform charges using the current agreement. A growing sales total can coexist with a shrinking margin. Maintain access to the company’s own product records, stock information and customer-service history where permitted. Cloud and commerce plans share a useful discipline: define an owner, a review date and an exit scenario. That makes a large platform a deliberate business dependency rather than an assumption nobody has tested.
- Review cloud usage and billing together, service by service.
- Calculate seller contribution after returns and acquisition spending.
- Keep a documented plan for essential records and continuity.
