Measure the bag you will actually carry
Brightline’s published baggage guidance allows two complimentary carry-on bags and a personal item, with carry-on limits stated as 50 lbs. and 24 × 16 × 10 inches. Measure exterior dimensions, including protruding handles and wheels, rather than relying on a retailer’s suitcase label. Larger bags involve different handling and fees. Check the current baggage page and fee schedule for your booking because fare products and station operations can change.
Check both stations before purchasing
The operator identifies checked-bag service at Miami, Fort Lauderdale, West Palm Beach and Orlando, while Aventura and Boca Raton do not offer the same checked-bag operation. Do not assume a large suitcase follows an identical process on every route. Confirm what happens at both the departure and destination station. Where the published page contains differing size categories or fare descriptions, ask Guest Services about your exact bag and fare before paying.
Work backward from baggage acceptance
Brightline asks passengers using checked baggage to allow at least 30 minutes before departure for the relevant process. Treat that as a baggage requirement, not your total journey from a Miami Beach hotel. Add transport, traffic, station access and any queue. Keep medication, travel documents and valuable essentials in a bag you can retain. A train ticket does not automatically protect a later airline connection, so build a separate buffer when linking rail and a flight.
Create a booking-day checklist
Record your fare, departure time, bag count, exterior measurements, weight and any prepaid baggage charge. Save a screenshot of the terms applied to the purchase. Contact the operator separately about mobility devices, sports equipment or unusually shaped items, and follow the relevant policy rather than squeezing them into the ordinary suitcase category. Before leaving for the station, check service notices and make sure the same booking details appear for everyone traveling together.
